How can you become a record producer for companies like Warner bros, roadrunner, etc?
What college courses should u take to become a better producer? How do you become a producer for a certain company? Anything helps, Thanks!
Hey there,
There are very rarely situations where there is an in-house producer that does all of their production for the label they work for- it just tend not to work that way. You should pursue courses in music and audio engineering. In addition to studying music and engineering you should absolutely intern at a music studio if you want to get into producing, engineering or mixing. Being a producer is really part engineering part songwriting and part arranging so pure music courses and then courses that teach you to use pro tools or an old school console.
Learn those skills and then you have to be a guy who attaches himself to talented groups. Great producers are only as good as the groups they work with and since the big names have their pick of projects you are going to have to be part A&R guy as well and find and produce talent early.
