Why was Star Trek The Original Series Cancelled?
So Im doing a project on Star Trek and I was wondering why the original series cancelled after 3 seasons?
The quick answer is low ratings, but NBC suits had tired of the series after one season and the budget continued to be cut where the fall became a fait accompli. Desilu Productions was also in financial decline, but the sale to what became Paramount Television in December 1967 set up the syndication package which brought about the rebirth....and the rest is iconic pop culture history.
