Autograph Hot
does anyone know how to get ahold of a box of baseball cards known as a hot box?
Hot boxes are boxes of cards that contain more than average odds to pull jersey cards, memorbilia cards, autograph cards, etc. Does anyone know how to get ahold of a box like this? Is it simply just luck or is there a way to obtain one of these?
As a collector of sports cards for over 30 years, I can tell you that I have opened only about 5 hot boxes, since they became a part of the collecting hobby. Companies put them into play to reward collectors and they are pure luck at that. Anyone that can guarantee a hot box, has some inside information that for the sanity of the hobby is kept very secret. I can assure you that more than likely the seller assuring such a box is pulling your leg to put it nicely. Now I can tell you that most of the hot boxes that I have pulled have come from the Upper Deck company, but recent company woes have limited their products, more recently their baseball license for the 2010 season, and now the NFL license as well. They were able to secure the collegiate license, however.
